According to UK Vogue, Danish born model Freja Beja Erichsen has appeared in over 40 autumn/winter runway collections in 2010. By the end of this year we will expect her to be known as just ‘Freja’. At 17 she was already 5’9″ and discovered by a modeling agent on the streets of Copenhagen– it was her destiny to become the lanky It Girl of this season– and perhaps the next Giselle. Multi-talented, bilingual and seemingly grounded (she just bought a house in Denmark), at 22 Freja is a walking nightmare– if you’re the type to compare your life to that of a super model.

I absolutely love the color of this spread. It’s a welcome departure from the sea of black, gray and camel infusing the pages this season and Freja is breathtaking.

Alexa Chung photographed by Béatrice de Géa in her home. Love the flag (somehow this seems cooler than, say, an American flag would, right? Or is it just me…), bed unapologetically on the floor, the pretty strand of white bulb lights, and the art and photos propped up against the exposed brick wall. Oh, and her signature socks with platform sandals too.

My latest video obsession is with The Neistat Brothers. Their show just premiered in June on HBO and it’s enough to consider breaking my hiatus since The Sopranos ended… The gorgeous film below was created in 2007 with/for Kate Spade.

CURATE: Where the River meets the Sea

Since the weather lately has been nothing short of ungodly, I have longed to stay in a cottage exactly like this one. Except, I would like it to be on a beach where I could wallow unashamedly in the surf. Located northeast of New York City, where the Connecticut River and Long Island Sound meet, and enclosed by a low stone wall and hedges, this cottage plays host to a medley of styles: the modest early 19th-century exterior gradually unveils a surprisingly sophisticated interior (thanks to some wonderful Biedermeier furniture). A notable detail is the plaster walls which have remained glue-stained, producing a honey-like glow that contrasts unexpectedly with the glossy white trim. And if that were not enough, the dreamy summerhouse (bare feet recommended) has a floor border composed of slate blue river rocks…

INSIDER: Where the boys are.

It was a fun day in NY, which is in the midst of Men’s Market, so we took a peek at Spring 2011 (believe it) at the always fresh & forward Capsule Show in Chelsea. Our favorites today were Grahame G. Fowler, Billy Reid, Kitsuné and Henrik Vibskov from Copenhagen but mostly we just liked checking out what the NY boys are wearing these days and who’s going to be busy outfitting the well dressed. A little side note- we loved that instead of the standard lanyard and laminate passes, Capsule cleverly had limited edition pendants created by artist Gabriel Urist. Nice touch! (The cheeky bearded one in the hat below is Baltimorean Daniel Wylie- He’s opening a new men’s shop in Hampden this September called Sixteen Tons. It’s gonna be good…)

If I were to pick one thing to add to my fall closet from the August issue of Vogue it’s this jacket by Christopher Raeburn. It’s the perfect combination of classic tailoring, incredibly smart detailing and the best part- repurposed (!) materials.

Thanks Philippa & Craig for introducing to us to South Africa’s Die Antwoord- there’s really no American equivalent. It’s disruptive and disturbing, like a great piece of art. I just wish these guys were playing ARTSCAPE this weekend in Baltimore, but they’ll be busy playing HERE.

Unabashedly a sucker for interiors that aren’t afraid of a good dose of quirk. Include some science equipment – laboratory glassware (giant test tubes make great vases), anatomical charts or biological models and animal classification posters. A great paradigm of this style of “Dark Nostalgia’ is the Manhattan apartment of dubbed ‘New Antiquarians’ Hollister and Porter Hovey, which is well-documented in their fabulous blog. Also check out the home of artists Jessica Grindstaff and Erik Sanko, who have taken this movement to a very cool extreme – filled to the brim with oddities…
